Most of the emigrating persons are active ones, especially young people and young families, the migration in this period having an economic motivation. In the same time, it is remarkable the great number of persons belonging to ethnical minorities who left Romania in this period (31% Germans and 11% Hungarians).
The main destination countries have been Germany (43% of the total of emigrants went there), Hungary (10.3%), the USA (10.1%) and Canada (7.2%).
